Are you a GIS expert at the creation, updating, management, and correction of personal geodatabases, file geodatabases, as well as working in an SDE database environment?
Are you interested in ArcGIS software work, Global Positioning System (GPS) field work, Quality Control of spatial data, map creation and publishing, and GIS technical support? If so, we are looking for a GIS Specialist to report to the Sustainable Range
Program (SRP) Geospatial Support Center (GSC) at Fort A.P. Hill located in Bowling Green, Virginia.
The GIS Specialist will also have project requirements for GPS field work, Quality Assurance and Quality Control of spatial data, and technical reports to support daily and ongoing project activities. The requirements of this posistion include a proficiency using the ArcGIS suite of products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolBox), FGDC, SDSFIE, and excellent writing and communication skills. The GIS Specialist will be required to provide a wide range of GIS support services including the development of GIS data for multiple military installations, the development of specialized map products, quality control of spatial data, teaching GIS and SRP applications to non-GIS users, and spatial queries and analysis. The applicant must be able to work as part of a team and MUST be a U.S. Citizen.
Qualification and Experience
4-year degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related curriculum (or equivalent) and 3- 5 years of related experience.
Requirements include proficiency using the ArcGIS suite of products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolBox), SDE, SQL Database, Quality Assurance and Quality Control of spatial data, SDSFIE, FGDC, and excellent writing and communication skills. Must be able to work as part of a team. Applicant selected MUST be a U.S. Citizen.
Desirables: Prior military or previous GIS experience working with the military.
