Paid Internship – PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Information Technology
Brief Description: The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR) Bureau of Information Technology is currently seeking applications for a paid internship in the Harrisburg area. This position will assist with the development of a GIS layer of Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) areas within PA State Parks. The intern will work with various staff to obtain, interpret and digitize these areas from grant agreement documents. This will involve scanning, georeferencing and digitizing maps, as well as entering deed descriptions to establish boundaries. The data will then be integrated with the established LWCF program at the PA DCNR, which is used for GIS-based field inspections of the sites.
Learning Experiences: GIS; editing GIS data; enterprise GIS; agreement/contract interpretation
Required Skills: ArcGIS 10.2 or later; standard Microsoft Office products; solid communication skills
Required Coursework: Introduction to GIS; Advanced/Applied GIS or equivalent
Term: March 1, 2016 – May 31, 2016; looking for someone who can ideally work 20 or more hours per week.
