GIS Spatial Analyst
The Water School at Florida Gulf Coast University is hiring a Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Spatial Analyst to assist in faculty and student‐driven research. Working with faculty, the position will
perform technical and professional level work in planning, analyzing, and designing methods and
procedures for the development of new or modifications of existing GIS data, products and
applications. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities include GIS application data entry (including geo‐referencing) and data
deliverables as assigned; working with students and faculty to develop and implement project‐specific
GIS applications; and providing technical advice and technical assistance as appropriate. The position
will be responsible for building, editing, and managing GIS data layers as assigned and creating custom
maps and data reports in support of research and outreach at The Water School. Other responsibilities
include the training and support of other personnel on the use of GIS applications. Must have
experience in automating and maintaining geographic datasets using ESRI GIS software and skill in
operating related peripherals such as GPS hardware and large format plotters.
- Bachelor's degree from with major coursework in GIS, Environmental Science, or related field. Progressive experience as a GIS Analyst may be substituted for the degree.
- Three years' experience of progressively responsible experience in the field GIS.
- Certified training on GIS software (e.g., ArcMap, ArcGIS Online).
